Yes but the guy (or girl) who recorded it is illegally selling it for $25.

Random question: what is the proper etiquette for bootlegs like that? I'm not the type of person to go record a show, but I love to get my hands on stuff like that. Obviously turning a ridiculous profit off of someone else's hard work and creativity is  , but what if she was selling it for like the cost of the blank media that she was putting it on. If she was selling it for like $1-5? Or should she just give it out for free? I know there's all sorts of legal issues surrounding it too, but if the band and the venue allow the recording, what's the protocol? (I think firebaugh might know about this sort of thing)

Great question. Here is the deal.

Never sell bootlegs, bad form and bad karma. First, try to trade, if a trade is not possible try to do a b&p trade (b=blank as in blank dvd, p=postage ), the person wanting a show from someone would send the blank media to burn the dvd, as well as the cash to cover the postage. This is how to trade bootleg material.

Yep, you got it rickdempsey. One slight difference is that in taping circles the term bootleg refers to a recording that is being sold illegally.

so the more proper term would be a recording as a opposed to a bootleg? As for the rest of it, the trading and the b&p, that sounds awesome to me. I would gladly pony up blank media and some postage for something like that. Thanks guys :!:

Yeah, recording or sometimes tape are the preferred terms.
