just scored a little solid state Marshall Bass 12 (same as a lead 12 almost) 10" combo that's had a 12" g12K85 put in it. Scratchy pots but works. No OD/ Distortion channel, but thats what a pedal's for.

Also scored an empty late 70's Marshall 1960-A top cab. Some 80's douchebag stripped the tolex, painted it black & painted the checkerboard grill cloth black :| :x . I hate 80's hairspray douchebags. (usually the culprits of Marshall head & cab bastardizations back in the day. I'd LOVE to put my hands around the neck of who ever did it. Stupid bastard).

Gonna eventually re-tolex it w Black Levant tolex & brown basketweave cloth. I'll use it with my Randall, if I dont trade it off.

No, it's empty. If it DID have 75's, I'd be droppin' em like hot potatoes. I'm not a fan of 75's. (with a Marshall anyway. They're OK w Orange & some other amps).

With a Marshall, they're too beamy, too scooped in the mid section, and have a really brash spikey top end that doesnt jive with me. I can never get a Marshall dialed in the way I like it w 75's . Especially at the volume levels I run things at. I never can seem to get the "crispy" harsh treble out of them.

As for celestions (heavy stuff anyway), I favor MC-90's (Mesa Black Shadows), and g12k85's / g12k100's (they're the same speaker. different sticker) , classic lead 80's, g12h65's , and old school 55hz "Black Backs".

always wired in series-parralel.

I want to be able to feel my pants pushing against my legs at medium volume levels, and feel my balls shake at high volume levels.

Yeah, the gk12k100s are fucking sweet. that's what I had in my Mesa cab. I still have Vintage 30s in my Marshall straight cab. But the best ones of all are the Weber 65s in my Emperor. Best speakers I've ever heard.

Yeah. I'd like to mess around with some Webers. I really liked the old school celestion 65's. My broe Jarrett (dude looks like a 6'8 Jimmy Bower lol) swears by 'em. I hear the webers have more of a "bloom" to them, and have a sweeter top end.

I'd like to get ahold of an emperor cab. I hear theyre bad ass.

I hope I get my 1960A cab sold soon. I got a guitar sold, and some motorcycle parts sold. I may see if I can scrounge up one of those avatar contemporary 4x12's (like an Orange, Matamp & Emperor cab) . They say they'll hold their own, and they look cool too. supposed to be really heavy sounding. A black one with brown basketweave or salt & pepper cloth would be awesome.

I found a old school Mesa Boogie (the old metal grilled ones) near my mother inlaws for $250. Its got Black Shadows in it. I may snag it just to rob the black shadows & sell the cab empty.

Hopefully my empty MF cab shows up before thanksgiving.

If the empty 1960 A doesnt sell this week or next, Im gonna spray it with truck bedliner & put a metal grille on it (like the old Mesas) & put the aluminum Marshall badge from the Mode Four cab on it & sell it as a custom cab. Wish I could find someone who'd swap me an empty beat up 1960B for it. Im just not much for angled 4x12's or cabs with split front baffles. I dont like the way they project, or the loss of resonance. Hard to get "my" sound out of one.

i just bought a sunn beta lead off ebay and it has a few issues.
the master volume doesn´t react after 3 and the amp is very quiet.
if i plug into both channels it basically beeps uncontrolably and the input jacks seem too tight :? and they scratch.
some of the pots seem too loose and some too hard to turn.
is there an easy fix for these problems or will i have to consult a technician? (i have little to zero experience with repairing amps.)

My suggestion, if you cant fix it yourself, pay ot have it done.
most amp repairs (from my experience) run roughly 200-250, and that's WITH the 45$ estimate.
It's worth it if you want to fix it.
And even if you arent too clear on some things ampwise, but can tinker a bit, get a tech to tell you whats
wrong with it for 40 or 50 bux. they can usually throw it up on the bench and have it sorted out in about
15 minutes.
Then you can take it home an fix it.
