Lead singer of Black Oak Arkansas was at the show. Down played part of Jim Dandy as a tribute to him & even brought him onstage.

The boys played Misfortune Teller & it sounds superb live!!!

The highlight was the VIP soundcheck where the band treated us to a cover of Robin Trower's Bridge Of Sighs which was AMAZING. \m/

It was great seeing Watt and his crew again

New Daisy Theatre
Memphis, TN

Black Tusk & Haarp opened. Both bands were good but I'm not familiar with their song titles yet.

My 13th time seeing Down and this was their best performance. The sound was stellar. The Trower cover owned and blew away the cover Opeth recorded. Philip had more energy than ever before, he jumped around like he did in the Far Beyond Driven era. The band sounded flawless. The youtube recordings don't do the new song Misfortune Teller any justice at all. It sounds awesome & the band played it all the way through in it's entirety without missing a step. It was the first time since 07 that there was not a song from Down III: Over The Under in the setlist.

VIP Soundcheck:
Bridge Of Sighs - Robin Trower cover (Awesome!!! Windstein & Keenan nailed it)
Rehab

Lysergik Funeral Procession
Hail The Leaf
Lifer
Ghosts Along The Mississippi
Jim Dandy - Black Oak Arkansas cover 1/3 of the song
Pillars Of Eternity
Temptations Wings - Vocalist from BOA brought onstage to talk about how he likes Down
Underneath Everything
New Orleans Is A Dying Whore
Eyes Of The South
Misfortune Teller - New song from upcoming e.p.
Stone The Crow
Bury Me In Smoke

Easily one of my favorite Down shows!!!

I was there, on Pepper's side, up front. Good show!
Some of my observations (at least what I can remember)

Got to shake hands and meet Kirk in the lobby before their set. Also met Jimmy on the side of the stage before their set. Pretty cool that they come hang out with us fans when they can.

During haarp's set, you could see Phil hanging out behind the amps, enjoying haarp's show. I know they're on his Housecore label, but it's like Phil is a fan of the band, not just because they're on his label. Pretty cool to see. He even joined in on vocals for a few minutes on one of their songs.

Lysergic Funeral Procession--they played the whole song. I know sometimes they just start at the middle. One of my faves, I love the doomy riff at the beginning!

Jim Dandy from BOA was at the show. I saw him off to the right of the stage just hanging out. Like mentioned earlier, Phil said one of his bands from New Orleans opened up for BOA. I guess Phil and Jim kept in touch all these years.

Phil seemed to be in a good mood, having a good time, joking around. He was in classic form, he looked and sounded good!

I like Pat Bruders. He plays bass like I do, the Geezer Butler style. I think he fits in Down just fine! :headbang:

They played "Misfortune Teller". GOOD song! Can't wait to hear it on the EP.

All in all, a good show, and it seems like it was a good turnout for Down. Hopefully they'll include Memphis on their tour stops more often!

Wow, as I said earlier, they really need to mix up their setlist. Aside from the new song and covers, I'm pretty sure they played those exact same songs when I saw them in St. Louis.
