First off, awesome pics. I'm trying to score a photopass myself for the East coast leg with Machine Head, (by the way, when is Down heading back our way?!?!?).

I can't help but notice that Metallica's setlist is rather fucking pathetic, (coming from someone who has seen them 33+ times and is wearing their artwork). Why go a ruin a good album by touring with a crap setlist? No "Creeping Death"?, No "Disposable Heroes" at a time when America is in 3 illegal wars? Only one fucking song off ...And Justice For All with an election going on? Only one song off Ride The Lightning and Master Of Puppets? What the hell are they thinking playing Frantic, Until It Sleeps, and Hero Of The Day? If you're going to bust out anything at all from the Load/ReLoad sessions how about "Fixxxer"? or "Where the Wild Things Are"? Bloody hell.

They're Metallica. They can play whatever they want.

Anyone have a set list for DOWN? :!:

It only occured to me there now that Down are playing on the 360 degree stage Metallca are rockin at the minute. That would be awesome to see! Any pics of that from up in the stands? Curious to see how Down make use of the ridiculous stage space!

I was expecting a 20 + setlist. Instead it is filled with 18 songs.

It is a privilege to serve you all and I am humbled. I snapped the pics but please consider them a gift from Down and Metallica to the members of downboard.com. :headbang:

There are more to come from this show.

hail the leaf
the path
lifer (dedicated to Dime)
stone the crow
lysergik
dying whore
n.o.d.
underneath everything
bury me in smoke (w/ a little "nothing in return" at the end).

Not necessarily in that order but should be close, could've been one other.

The stage wasn't that great for them, just too fucking spread out. And I don't know what the deal was with the sound but it wasn't anything close to metallica's, which is expected but I'll take them headlining in a small place anytime over that...

Phil seemed pretty pissed off the whole night since there wasn't enough down love going on. strange that they cancelled tonight...

The state design is a lot cooler than past Metallica stage designs. Also I love seeing Robert using those Fender and Rickenbacker Basses. I am a big fan of Rickenbacker basses. :!:

Rickenbacker does make a mean bass! And I agree about the stage also... that 360' design is just plain sweet! I bet it's a pain for the techs setting up and probably even bigger for the sound guys to perfect it. I'd have loved to see DOWN & METALLICA together on a stage like that... I wish more bands did that too. I'd like to try playing on a stage like that as well sometime... though I probably wouldn't know what to do with all that space haha.

But in all seriousness... a-friggin-mazing pics!!!
