We have Maryland Deathfest, which has an all around better lineup.

I tend to look pretty poorly on any festival that has a shitty band like Machine Head playing over Entombed.

The more metal shows the better. and i wont be goin to maryland either. or new jersey. wish i could.

So you won't go to the fests we have now, but you wish another fest would come to America. Why? So you can say you won't attend that one either?

I would attend them if they werent half way across the U.S. And i would think if there were more they would be spread out across the U.S. Instead of jamed up in the north east. It would be more affordable. Also i have been a metal head since the mid 80's. I have traveled many a mile to see bands. I played in several bands, and played in the same DEATH METAL band for 13 fukin years. so no need to try and question what i will or will not do to see bands jam. I have paid my dues many times over. Dont you think us" METAL FANS" should have big ass fests in more than 4 or 5 states. I sure the fuk do.

Well, metal fan, seeing as you live in Texas, where two of the biggest metal fests every year goes down, I think your whole post there was a little silly. You guys have Chaos In Tejas and the Fun Fun Fun Fest. There is only one fest in the Northeast, and that's Maryland Deathfest. All the other big fests, LA Muderfest, Las Vegas Death Fest, Goregrowlers Ball, Goregon Massacre Fest, Power Of The Riff Fests, What The Fuck Fest and so on, are all in the west.

Wait, make that three now that SXSW has showcases from Nanotear, Southern Lord and other metal institutions.

So, unless you consider other parts of Texas to be the "north east," your entire argument is invalid, and for a guy that was supposedly in the "scene" for 13 years, you don't seem to have any grasp at all of where the metal fests are in America.

I just moved to texas. and the fests i remember were N.J, MD,WI .and FL. and I wasnt trying to argue. I was telling you what i know. Im from the east coast. and the fests you named I havent herd of. I am glad to hear there are so many. I regret to say I have been out of the circle for 4, 5 years. Perish seraphic is the band i formed in 94. I did vocals, and guitar. Check out I,bex moon, or militia promotions. we are on compalations from them. anyway, i dont understand why you want to question my original post. it was a simple comment.? If you think im full of shit about the scene. go have a look and a listen of the band i mentioned. its an analog recording we did ourselves. im not here to be an enemy, so ease the fuk up.

I've actually never heard of a single fest in New Jersey. Or Florida.

The Milwaukee Metal Fest has been defunct for years.

Maryland Deathfest has literally been the only fest on the east coast ever since the New England Hardcore and Metal Fest went tits up a few years ago.

I'm not trying to say that you weren't in a band, or didn't accomplish anything. There are a lot of people, myself included, in bands on this board that have accomplished stuff just like you.

My only point is that if you're in the scene for that long, you should be aware of the opportunities out there for your band. Or, as a fan of metal, you might want to be aware of some of the best events to see metal in America.

In reality though, my main point is that, as a musician, it's disturbing to see metal fans say things like "I wish Hellfest came to America" when they won't even take time to go to the Fests that we have now. A lot of European bands won't even come to America any more because the attendance at shows just keep dropping lower and lower. Every day on the internet I see Americans talking about Hellfest, or Roadburn, or Download, but those same people won't go see the same bands play a Fest on American soil.

It's goddamn disheartening, as a musician and as a fan of metal for 30 years.

I see your point now. to be honest, at first i thought you were just being a dick. and i agree With what your saying.. We should attend more shows, its the only way a band really gets paid. And i have my reasons for not keeping up w/ whats goin on in the underground today. some justifiable, some not. Hell, the last 3 months is the first ive been on the internet in a good 5, 6 years maybe longer. But thats why I started getting back into internet, music. And ill get caught back up. as for my band havent done shit for some years. we'll see.
