Last night was awesome! Down is on fire right now. Ponykiller was very different to say the least. They sound very alt-rock to me. haarp was badass as usual. Shawn is insane on stage. He jumped down in the pit and sang a song or two. Down was amazing. Set list was pretty similar to the recent shows. The crowd kept chanting COC. After a few times of that they busted out some oldschool COC song. Not sure what it was. No mention of rex but phil welcomed pat as the newest addition to the band. He did a damn fine job as far as I'm concerned. Definitely looking forward to hearing new material after seeing them live again. Phil looks possessed on stage.

Down -- Nashville, TN @ The Cannery Ballroom -- May 2nd 2011

Opening acts: Ponykiller, Haarp

Down's setlist:

Hail the Leaf
Lysergik Funeral Procession
Lifer
Ghost Along The Mississippi
The Path
Losing All
New Orleans Is A Dying Whore
Pillars Of Eternity
On March The Saints
Underneath Everything
N.O.D.
Eyes Of The South
--------
Encore:

Stone The Crow
Bury Me In Smoke

It is possible the songs may be out of order in the middle of the setlist.

Ponykiller was a good band, just not a good fit for this show. They sounded good live.

Haarp is doom with lots of screaming. The crowd liked the band at first but it became boring fast.

Down came out and sounded better than ever. I have seen them 12 times and this is about as good as I have ever seen them. The energy was awesome, the sound was awesome. The band was in good spirits up until everyone started chanting for COC over and over after every few songs. Philip was a bit ill about it and Pepper didn't seem to like it much either. They kept playing a riff from Animosity era COC when the crowd would start in. Kirk finally played Albatross with Philip singing but it only lasted for a minute. The entire band seemed to be in a great mood aside from dealing with the idiots chanting COC a few times through out the show. The band was a well oiled machine tonight and the crowd was entertaining as well. Probably the best pits I have ever seen at a Down show so far. Philip stopped a song one time to tell the crowd they kicked ass instead of starting it over with the, "I'm watching you like a hawk" line he is famous for.

I also attended the Meet N Greet and sound check. The sound check was awesome as the band ran through Swan Song and a Animosity era COC song and a few other things. It was a good time and if you have the $ it is well worth it for you to get the VIP package if you are a fan of Down.

It was a great show, a good time and fun to see Down again. Pat Bruder from Crowbar is a killer bassist and fills in nicely in place of Rex.

Here is a pic of me & my gf. If you see us at a Down show be sure to introduce yourself. I ran into a few people from the forums here. Lurker where are you???

I was at the show last night.Ponykiller did not fit the bill in my opinion.Haarp was heavy as fuck,Good ol NOLA sludge.Down,of course tore the place down..awesome show.Phil stayed stage left during Ponykiller's and Haarp's set smoking, drinkin' and playing air guitar and drums in full support! :headbang: Pat did a killer job filling in on Bass. The final of Bury Me in Smoke was funny at times with all bands participating.Found it funny as hell with Pat trying to show Ponykillers bassist on how to play those bass notes during the encore. All in all,Awesome show. Will be there next time they roll through Nashville for sure. :headbang:

Down was damn good last night. I attended the Meet and Greet and was wearing the Housecore Records shirt. The band did Rehab, some cool stoner song that I was not familiar with, and Swan Song for the soundcheck. During the Meet and Greet, I gave Pepper a Muscle Shoals Sound t-shirt just like the one that Ronnie Van Zant wore when Skynyrd opened for the Stones in the 70s at Knebworth and he tripped out on it.

One of the funny moments of the night was a buddy of mine from Nashville showed up around 9:30 pm to check out the show. He was wearing a Motley Crue Too Fast for Love shirt. This is the same guy who wore a KISS shirt to a Clutch show several years ago and he got heckled by the Clutch fans all night. Anyway, Phil was firing the crowd up halfway through the show and Phil challenged the crowd to "rise to the occasion, This ain't no Motley Crue concert!" I laughed and told Jeff he's going to have to stop wearing these glam shirts to these shows. Hell, he'll probably show up at a Slayer show with a Boy George shirt on.

Great show and the Meet and Greet was awesome!

Wish I coulda made it, but.... Woulda been nice to hooked up with ya again, wolverinekills.. throw down West Ky style. either way though, I wasnt there, but SEVERAL Down songs have kinda been the soundtrack to whats been going on here in flooded out West McCracken County the ast week or so . With all Ive lost, I dont care what I gotta do, Im seeing them next time around , if I gotta do anything.

I cant wait until I can get my gear out in a place where I can actually play & riff the holy fuck outta my fave Down songs. Or do super retard Down Guitar jam- along to down songs  (that used to be my "up early & nothin to do yet on saturday / sunday" ritual   :headbang: 8)

If that's the case, I'll be trying to catch up with you guys. I caught Wattage up there, but I never made it up to the balcony to meet you guys.

Has anybody got the complete audio or video of the Nashville show? I've got audio and video from other 2011 shows to trade.

How far is Sauget from Murray, KY? I'm going to murray state in the fall and will have a car with me down there, so if there's a show at pop's or STL, I'm willing to travel.
