Your tube explaination was spot on, 100% perfect.
Got any Biasing info to match it?
I'm talking multimeter bias, not that "bias tool" crap.
I know Gerald Weber has some pretty good books and videos on it, but I would
like to read some real world info on it for us DIY'ers..

Thanks!

As far as biasing, I need my broe here to explain things. He does mine the old fashioned way. gets em as hot as they'll run. Usually, I'll have him set em till they're red plating..then slowly back them down to the point where they're at the point to where their on the verge of melt down. Not really a good idea for most, but thats the sound I like with the way my shit's set up. The way he does it is kinda dangerous. He'll have me playing thru 'em while he's adjusting.

(thats not really safe, but...)

I need to get him to show me the proper way. I'd like to actually have some of that stuff to do that with (for when working on stuff that isnt mine. I wouldnt reccomend the bias settings I run to anyone else because it will severely shorten tube life & risk of fucking up other stuff)

I'm gonna mod my fuzzy100 to have external bias ports so I can plug and meter.
Fuck it, it's not "collector" or anytthing... I'll poke holes in the back of it and put 1 ground and 4 positive posts to meter the Plate voltage on each one.
And since this amp doesnt have an adjustable bias, im going to jump off one side of the fixed 93k resistor with a 50k variable pot. yeah, im leaving the 93k inline just in case that damn pot decides to open up it wont blow a hole in the wall when the tubes head for meltdown.

I know it's been a while, but I've been cramming my tube/electronics knowledge for the past few months. :o
Got a shitload of sample parts headed my way and gonna start building pedals.
Ive got a few circuits made up ive not seen anywhere, but a fuzz is a fuzz ia a fuzz..
I want to make them with all the things I wanted on every pedal I've ever owned.
they lack a few things, and mine'll have 'em. hahahha
Fuck it, might as well do something... i'm never gonna make it in a band situation.. this way I can still provide to the scene without embarassing myself with my guitar skills... or lack-there-of.

Yeah. When I get time, & settled back in at home,I wanna re-do a couple of brand new OD pedals & see if someone can get them to Pep & Kirk to try our. I think my mod in that certain pedal would work great for both of them. (and they'd be free, so they wouldnt be out any $$) .I'd consider it a gift to them for the music they've given me over the years. And...It'd be ballin' as fuck to know they were usin shit that I built/rebuilt/modded/ etc.

Want a fun start to modding? Go buy you a Boss SD1 overdrive pedal. LOTS of mods availible. You can take one of those & make it piss all over a boutique $400.00 pedal.

Man.. i've made a couple of pedals since this post.
i'll send you some info on them as soon as I get a recording or two.
i'm way happy with 'em.
I fucked with a lot of circuits and the one I always came back to was the
big muff, 4 transistor with tone setup.
Assymetrical clipping in BOTH stages, with selectable dual top boost at around 4k and 6k.
It really only kicks in when the tone is set around 11 o'clock, reall muffed out, and when that 6k switch is it it's scooped all to fuck.
sounds really, really good.
Smokes the original muff.
Trying to finalize the artwork and PCB traces and ill send a couple out for people to review.
Fuck it, im happy with it.
The next one I want to do is my version of a vibe pedal... ive cooked something up thats
going to make mother fuckers cry.

What you got goin on?

Nothin really, ATM>

When I get the chance, I have a home-made pedal I wanna try. The EVH Fanboys have come up with an interesting "echoplex pre-amp circuit" that theyve figured out. Its supposed get you REALLY close to the EVH thing, in front of a Marshall plexi. You can buy almost all the parts at Rat Shack. I have an old Electro Harmonix enclosure Im gonna use.

There's a t-shirt on ebay that has a print of the pr0n star Belladonna on it. Im gonna paint the box orange & have the image from that shirt made into a stencil & put on the front of it & call it "The Dirty Butthole"

I still havent got to get started on it. Been working on the house, trying to get back in it. Been re-insulating &hanging sheet rock this past couple weeks. Gotta get my showers framed in & plumbed so I can finish hanging the living room. A buddy of mine's a carpenter & sheetrock guy & been trying to help him out while he's able to work.

Hopefully I can get that built soon. What little playing time Ive had, I been foolin around with an old style (the ones made in the 90's) Ibanez Tube King. Did a tube swap in it & found it to still be too fizzy. Changed the voltage on it from 9 to 12 volts & made a great improvement. May try it @ 18 volts.
